I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, where I spent my time growing up going to the public pool, playing soccer and low hoops (basketball where even I could dunk). I am the third child with an older brother and sister and one younger brother. I went to college to play soccer and picked up a degree along the way. I enjoy the great outdoors, hiking and backpacking, movies, reading and writing. I currently live in West Africa working for a Christian NGO that assists in literacy, community development and a medical clinic. My wife and I recently celebrated 26 years of marriage. We have lived in Michigan, Chicagoland and in two different African countries. We have four children, two living in Michigan and two living with us. I am currently trying to learn a local African dialect. The local people here have a saying; "Learning never dies." but this language could be the end of me.
